Founder SEO field guide

Treat DR as a signal. Measure the business separately.

A higher number is easy to celebrate. A useful distribution plan asks what changed, which links are real, and whether the right people reached your product.

What Domain Rating actually tells you

Domain Rating is Ahrefs’ measure of a domain’s relative backlink-profile strength. It is a third-party metric, not Google’s ranking score. Use it to compare link profiles in context rather than as a promise of visitors or sales. A directory placement cannot promise an increase.

For a new SaaS, keep a simple baseline: date, measurement provider, domain checked and reported DR. Compare the same root domain and provider each time. If no metric is available, record “unknown” instead of turning missing data into zero.

Start with the links you can verify

  • Open each public listing and check that its product URL points to your canonical domain.
  • Record the listing URL, date checked and link attributes.
  • Separate submission receipts from approved, live pages.
  • Note audience fit and referral traffic alongside any authority metric.

A weekly scorecard that helps you decide

Use four columns: verified new listings, referred visits, completed signups and customer feedback. Put DR in a separate context column. If five directories send visitors but nobody finishes signup, inspect the offer and signup path before ordering another batch.

For example, a freelance invoicing product might receive fewer visits from a freelancer community than a general launch directory, but more relevant conversations. Record the real numbers and questions before choosing the next channel. This is a decision template, not a promised outcome.

What a Featured launch changes

Featured on SaaSGrave Launches costs $8.99 once for your chosen launch week. It places your same-size row before regular launches on the weekly board, with a gold checkmark, and skips the free badge and community checklist. Votes still order products within each group.

That buys a defined placement and saves setup work. It does not buy an Ahrefs score, a Google position or a number of customers. Use UTM links and your analytics to measure what the placement sends.

FAQ

Questions founders ask

Does purchasing Featured guarantee a DR increase?

No. Featured buys priority placement for a launch week and skips free launch requirements. Third-party metrics and search results are outside that purchase.

How often should I record DR?

Choose a consistent interval, such as a weekly or monthly review, and keep the provider and domain scope consistent. Review verified listings and conversions alongside it.
